Before you upgrade
- Exports now keep the GPS location of the source photo by default. To leave it out, clear "GPS location in EXIF" in the export panel, or use the Web, Social Media, or Email preset.
- Export presets replace the file name presets. File name presets that you saved in an earlier version are not shown in the new preset menu.
- The capture time fix below applies to photos that you import after the upgrade.
New
- AI agents can work with Alcedo Studio through alcedo-cli, which is now installed next to the application (inside the app bundle on macOS). An agent can open projects, import, rate, edit, make previews, search, and export, in a separate session without a window or in the window that you use.
- Agent in the window: while an agent has control, your edit controls are locked, but you can still pan, zoom, and watch the scopes. The agent session stays at the top of the task island and the Background Tasks dialog with a list of its actions. Stop ends the agent's control at once. In the history, agent edits are marked and show the agent's note.
- Export presets: choose Standard, Web, Social Media, Email, Maximum Quality JPEG, 16-bit TIFF, or EXR Archive, or save your own. A preset sets all export options except the destination. The panel shows Custom when no preset matches, and it opens with the options of your last export.
- Export metadata: the export panel has EXIF metadata, ICC profile, and GPS location checkboxes. JPEG, UltraHDR, TIFF, PNG, and OpenEXR exports keep the EXIF and GPS data of the source photo. Camera and lens serial numbers are not written. The HDR options have a longest edge setting from 256 to 8192 pixels.
- OpenDRT can now render to sRGB displays with Rec.709 and P3-D65. Before, this combination failed to render.
Improved
- Select All (Ctrl+A) selects every photo of the current view, also when the view has more than 1,000 photos.
- Deleting photos runs in the background and shows as a background task, so the window does not stop responding.
- Folder import: large folders of RAW files import faster. Cancel now stops the import quickly and does not read the files that are still waiting. The import dialog has a close (X) button to cancel, and the progress ring shows the count of imported photos.
- Paste Adjustments: when you paste only some adjustments, the other adjustments of the target photo stay as they were. Before, they could be reset.
Fixed
- RAW capture time: the library and exported files now show the camera clock time. Before, the time could move by the time zone offset of your computer, for example 16:02 became 07:02 in UTC+9.
- macOS: a crash that could happen a few seconds after a project opened, while thumbnails of DNG files were made, is fixed.
- macOS: Rec.709 exports with gamma 2.2 or BT.1886 now embed an ICC profile with the matching curve, and the editor preview uses the same curve as the export.
- When a project opens, the library again goes to the photo that you edited last. After Paste Adjustments in the library, a message shows the result again.
- After you restore a minimized window, the editor shows the current image again, also the sharp detail of a zoomed view.
