Complete release notes
New
- Signed automatic updates on Windows and macOS. Updates are offered by build number, each update manifest is signature-verified, and packages are checked for platform, origin, size, and content hash before installation.
- A dedicated Updates page in Settings shows the installed and available versions, release notes in the selected language, download progress with cancel and retry, and install and restart actions without a popup dialog.
- Windows and macOS now use native window drawing, with system window frames and native minimize, maximize, and restore behavior on each platform.
- Export moved into the inspector and is now built from a complete recipe: codec, resolution, EXIF metadata, ICC profile, alpha channel, file naming, and name-collision handling.
- Export preserves EXIF metadata such as rating, capture date, camera, lens, exposure, focal length, and orientation, and writing EXIF and embedding the output ICC profile are explicit options.
- Exported images now carry the Alcedo Studio version in their EXIF metadata, and metadata handling is verified for every supported export format. WebP is no longer offered as an export format.
- File names can be composed from patterns with inline presets: source name, capture date, camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, rating, literal text, and padded sequence numbers.
- Export sizing covers original pixels, longest edge, pixel bounds, and physical print size with DPI. Ultra HDR follows the same size setting with an automatic 8192 px limit, and SDR and HDR quality settings are remembered between sessions.
Performance
- Nikon High-Efficiency (HE/HE*) RAW files decode about four times faster with identical output, on both Windows and macOS.
- macOS now decodes RAW with all cores and runs RAW processing on the GPU. A warm editor render with highlight recovery drops from about one second to roughly 190 ms, and highlight recovery itself from about 581 ms to 53 ms.
- Interactive edits on macOS no longer resize the preview for every change: a full-frame resize drops from about 60 ms to about 14 ms, and later edits skip the resize stage entirely.
Editor and library
- Switching between Library and Editor no longer blocks the interface. The editor stays alive while you visit Library and redisplays at once on return.
- Live adjustment previews are presented on display ticks, so dragging a slider keeps showing the newest frame instead of waiting for the next input event.
- The editor filmstrip lists the same collection and filter results as Library and keeps the open image selected when it stays in the list.
- A compact full-width toolbar and collections card replace the old window chrome. Sidebars are open in Library and closed in Editor by default, the choice is remembered, and the right button toggles the inspector or the adjustment stack.
- History, Versions, the adjustment stack, and the filmstrip fold with one shared animation while the viewer grows and shrinks with the panel.
- New application icon on both platforms, shown by the Windows taskbar and installer and by the macOS Dock, Finder, and disk image.
Fixed
- Pasting adjustments that include a LUT keeps that LUT selected in the LUT panel instead of showing no selection.
- Opening a project from the welcome screen no longer shows an empty frame.
Additional build notes: 2014
Alcedo Studio 0.2.9 (Build 2014)
Highlights
- Export controls now live in the inspector, with reusable naming presets, metadata and color-profile options, and pixel, print, and DPI sizing controls. SDR and HDR exports now share the same selected size settings.
- Album thumbnails now load through a dedicated image provider. Search, filter, grid, and statistics results share the same filter rules and stay in sync.
- Editor previews now use fixed quality levels and reuse open-image data, which reduces redundant work during interactive adjustments and image switches.
Updates
- Added signed automatic updates for Windows and Apple silicon Macs. Stable and beta builds use isolated feeds and verify release metadata, package size, and the SHA-256 package digest before installation.
- Update downloads can be canceled and resumed. Installation preserves the existing application location instead of creating a second installation.
- Settings now has a dedicated Updates page with installed and available build numbers, download progress, errors, and release information in one place.
Additional build notes: 2015
Alcedo Studio 0.2.9 (Build 2015)
Updates
- Release notes now appear directly on the Updates page and follow the selected application language, with English and Simplified Chinese content.
- Update manifests now carry notes for the exact build being offered, so the displayed information no longer depends on a separately maintained page.
- Windows releases now use installer packages only. Portable ZIP packages are no longer generated.
